Ben Stansbury Ben is a speaker and audio communication therapist. It’s been my goal to help define and equip our students in speech paths and speech pathology with information on where and how to avoid inappropriate speech during speech behaviors.
Ben’s podcast is more conversational and highly accessible than some of the language pathologists I’ve met. “Inherent Learning,” also known as the “Eliminator’s Handbook,” just released, was written by three professors of English who spent years working with students just as talented as Ben is, but with less resources, both on and off campus. He says his podcast is a book on how to communicate effectively so students can become more aware of speech about specific situations. Also, he’s done great work before—taking audio-recorded kids (and mine!) online to do some research back-to-back meetings on how speech is learned through practice. I fell in love with this talk and interviewed him about it in my Facebook (and Twitter accounts).
He’s a wonderful voice-to-intelligencer for use in clinical writing, and I’ll be honored if he helps other educators (and students!) with their own speech-language pathologies. Jeffrey Flitzman Jeff earned his K.M. in Interscope Technology (LA) and faculty general education (GSE) credentials at Virginia Tech. Before being a speech therapist, Jeffrey used graduate school as an informal background program (EBA 12-E by law and 12-E by business) for teaching and other similar courses.
Stansbury is a senior who recently graduated from M.D. at Stanford. His job is to provide voice-to-intelligencer training through various digital media programs in Spanish, Portuguese, German, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The latter is so important to him that he has offered commentary on Twitter about this news.
In exchange for his expertise and patience with me, he’s invited one of the top speech pathologists at Stanford to give him all the tools he needs to make his presentations better during his online research. Dr. Clifton Hachner Founded in 2002, Ph.D. in Speech Pathology at California State University, he is the director and assistant professor of Speechology at ASU’s Speech Neurosciences Institute and is co-author of “Icky Words” and “My New Ph.
D.: Icky Words from Pathology to Media and Language.” After leading an advertising agency from 2006-2010, hachner turned his focus to “transcription” and started attending school in the year 2009 for his Ph.D..
His field of study centers around communications learning through interactive journalism, and as such, he is truly a visionary.
